How to Check a Rust Server

Live map, vending machine prices, CCTV cameras & Rust+ tracking — Last updated: April 2026

RustLookup's server tools let you check any Rust server's map, wipe date, and current players without launching the game — and if you connect Rust+, you can browse every vending machine on the server, view CCTV camera feeds, and read team chat, all from your browser.

What the server tools include

Server Search
Find any Rust server by name. See live player counts, wipe schedule, map size, and rank.
Map Preview
Full map image generated from seed and size. See wipe date, map size, and seed at a glance — no game required.
Vending Prices
Every shop on the map with item icons, prices, stock levels, and exact grid references. Requires Rust+ connection.
CCTV Cameras
Live snapshots from any camera identifier. Mirrors the Rust+ companion app — uses your Computer Station. Requires Rust+ connection.
Team Chat
Read and send team chat messages in real time, plus see server events like cargo ship, patrol heli, and crate drops. Requires Rust+ connection.

Searching for a server

Head to the Servers page and type any part of the server's name into the search box. Results are pulled live from BattleMetrics — the same data source used by most Rust server browsers — and show:

Click any result to open the full server detail page.

Server detail page

The server detail page loads automatically — no login needed. It shows:

Map

The map image is generated from the server's world seed and size using Rustmaps.com. If a high-resolution map is available, it loads automatically. Overlaid chips show the seed number and map size. A link to the full Rustmaps.com page is shown below the image.

Stats tiles

Current players, max players, global BattleMetrics rank, map size, and time since last wipe — all visible at the top of the page without any connection.

Connect button

A steam://connect/… button lets you join the server directly from the browser. Clicking it opens the Steam client and queues you to connect.

Rust+ live tracking

The three live panels — Vending Machines, Team Chat, and CCTV — all require a Rust+ connection to the server. This uses the same protocol as the official Rust+ companion app, so you need to be paired to the server first.

You must be a player on the server (or have a team member who is) to use Rust+ features. RustLookup connects as your Steam account via the Rust+ companion protocol.

How to connect Rust+

  1. 1
    Open the server detail page

Find the server via the search page and click it to open its detail page.

  2. 2
    Sign in with Steam

Click the Connect Rust+ button and sign in with your Steam account. RustLookup only reads your SteamID — it does not store passwords.

  3. 3
    Pair with the server

Either use the RustLookup browser extension (which reads the pairing token from the Rust+ app automatically) or manually enter the pairing token from your Rust+ mobile app.

  4. 4
    Live panels unlock

Once connected, the Vending Machines, Team Chat, and CCTV panels appear and start loading data.

Vending machines

The Vending Machines panel fetches every active shop marker from the server's map. For each shop you see:

Use the search bar at the top to filter by item name — type AK to find assault rifle listings, rocket for explosive rockets, or scrap to see what's being sold for scrap. Deep sea shops (outside the playable grid) are automatically excluded.

Vending machine data is fetched at connection time and shows a timestamp of the last refresh. Use the Refresh button to get an updated snapshot — prices and stock change as players buy and restock.

Team chat & server events

The Team Chat panel shows incoming team chat messages and server events (cargo ship, patrol helicopter, Bradley, crate drops, and explosions) in real time. You can also type messages in the input bar and send them to your team's in-game chat without opening Rust.

CCTV camera feed

The CCTV panel lets you view a live snapshot from any camera on the server using its identifier. Monument cameras use well-known identifiers:

IdentifierLocation
DOME1Dome monument, top of sphere
OILRIG1LSmall Oil Rig, lower platform
OILRIG1TSmall Oil Rig, top platform
OILRIG2LLarge Oil Rig, lower deck
OILRIG2TLarge Oil Rig, top platform
HARBOR1Large Harbour entrance area
AIRFIELD1Airfield main runway

For your own base cameras, the identifier is the name you typed when placing the camera. The camera must be added to a Computer Station in-game before it can be accessed via Rust+ — this is a server-side requirement, not a RustLookup limitation.

Camera error codes explained

ErrorMeaning & fix
player_online You are currently in-game on the server. Rust blocks Rust+ camera access while you are actively connected. Disconnect from the server, then try again.
access_denied The camera exists but has not been added to your Computer Station, or belongs to a station you don't have access to. Add it in-game first.
not_found No camera with that identifier exists in any Computer Station on the server. Double-check the spelling — identifiers are case-sensitive on some servers.
Camera snapshots are static images — not a continuous video feed. Click the Refresh button to fetch the latest frame. Each request takes 5–10 seconds to capture and encode the image.
